CUSTOMER NEEDS
To print on printed film in the clear void space. They are printing front and back, which includes nutritional labeling, date coding, lot numbers and product name. They also required CoLOS software.

The customer originally used a MI X65 TTO printer with their bag-forming equipment to print lot numbers and date codes on clear film. However, switching to printed film created several challenges.
They also needed to add a Nutritional Label to the back of the package, ensuring it fit within a specific space. Additionally, the product name had to be printed on the front in a designated block. This had to meet strict Nutritional Food Labeling regulations for two bag sizes.
The nutritional labels had to be bilingual—English and French or English and Spanish—for over 30 products. Careful attention was needed to fit the ingredients and nutritional information while ensuring the right font, size, spacing, indentation, and line thickness.
THE SOLUTION
To meet these requirements, collaboration with multiple departments was essential.
A detailed spreadsheet was created to list all products and sizes, enabling the design of over 300 unique labels using MI CoLOS software.
The customer also purchased two additional X65 TTO printers with specialized registration brackets to simplify print placement adjustments.
Additionally, Doverco provided content design and software training for operators to help them efficiently manage the new printing processes and meet the updated labeling requirements.

A highly skilled Doverco technician, extensively trained by Markem-Imaje, played a key role in the project’s success.
He resolved design, spacing, and integration challenges during the transition from one printer to two additional printers, ensuring proper timing and message placement.
He also trained the customer’s team on message design and how to handle changeovers for different bags and messages.
As a result, the customer achieved an excellent return on investment by reducing inventory from over 300 different bags to just two bag sizes. This change provided significant flexibility, requiring less warehouse space and fewer orders for film stock.
