Our customer is located in Ontario and is one of North America’s leaders in the dairy industry.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The customer was looking to automate the wrapping of their pallets, which consisted of milk crates that were filled with various dairy products.

THE CHALLENGE

The customer has employees using long forked riding power walkies, which allow them to pick up two pallets at a time. They were looking for a way to eliminate the need for the operators to drop the pallets and manually hand wrap them.

THE SOLUTION

Phoenix PRTG-2150A Automatic Non Conveyorized Rotary Stretch Wrapper – Dual Cell System

This solution allows the operators to drive their walkies in to the wrapping area of the dual celled system and drop one pallet at a time in the individual cell and then exit the wrapping area.

The operator then starts the wrapping process and both pallets are wrapped simultaneously.

THE BENEFITS

There are multiple benefits to the solution. First, the pallets are wrapped more securely, which allow the elimination of damaged product from the collapse or toppling of the pallet.
Second, the time to wrap pallets is dramatically reduced because the two pallets are wrapped at the same time saving approximately half the amount of time.
Third, is huge savings in film usage due to the 245% pre-stretching of the film. This increases film yields approximately 3.45 times vs. hand wrapping.
Finally, is the improved ergonomics for operators. Operators do not have to bend over which reduces workers compensation claims.
